DOTA 2 Opens To The Public

Today is the closest DOTA 2 will ever get to a formal launch. After years (and YEARS) of testing, invitations, and waiting, the game is now open to everyone, anytime.

Don’t believe us? Check out the game’s Steam page, and we guarantee that, for the first time, you will see the green “play game” button, regardless of your invite, beta, or queue status.

But, hasn’t this been a kind of, well, lengthy beta period? Valve has been especially cautious in an effort to ensure that the infrastructure is able to cope with a large amount of players. They have been slowly ramping up the number of gamers as the game has been able to handle them.

While it may seem as though DOTA 2 has been open to the public for a while now, many countries/regions still had an application process/queue system for registration because of server loads. That system is gone now due to the addition of several new servers, making DOTA 2 officially open to the worldwide public.

Valve says there are currently 6.5 million people playing DOTA 2! Now, it seems that number is only going to grow.
