‘Stranger Things’ Season 3: Details Keep Trickling Out

Stranger Things director and cast members were at Netflix’s FYSee event at Raleigh Studios spilling the beans to Variety and attendees about what to expect with season 3 of everyone’s favorite show. While trying to keep the panel spoiler free, the cast focused on discussing the “vibe” of the new season.

Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) explains to the panel event goers:

“Season 1, I feel like, was more playful. Season 2 was a lot darker. And then Season 3 does really well blending them together, and that’s what I love about it.”

But What About Eleven?

“It’s a beautiful storyline for Eleven this season,” Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) told Variety. “It’s really a coming of age for her and understanding what being a normal teenage girl is.”

Season 2 was brutal for Eleven. Viewers watched as she finally seemed to escape her science experiment childhood only to enter another type of solitary confinement with freedom right on the other side of a door she wasn’t yet allowed to cross. Kids are resilient though. Amazingly resilient. We all want Eleven to get a taste of a normal, happy childhood and it seems she may finally get a piece of that in season 3.

New Cast Members

There are also some casting details to discuss here too, ya’ll. I’m sure you’ve already heard that Maya Thurman-Hawke, daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, will become a series regular as Robin, a kid who is bored with her mundane life and looking for adventure (be careful what you wish for, sweetheart). The Duffer Brothers have been raving about this kid’s acting chops in interviews. No surprise there- considering who her parents are.

Another new cast member is Francesca Reale. She will be the community pool lifeguard and her character will be a huge part in a dark mystery that occurs in season 3.

Everyone’s favorite sassy little sister with the killer one liners, Priah Ferguson, will get a well-deserved expanded role that finds her on a mission to save the town from a perilous situation.

We will be heading to the summer of ’85 in season 3. All of us ‘80s kids know exactly what the cast is talking about with that playful summertime vibe that keeps getting mentioned. Filming is underway and the show will drop sometime in 2019. We will keep you posted with any further details.
