Nintendo Releases New Super Smash Bros Information At Invitational

Nintendo Shares Information at Invitational

A lot has happened with Super Smash Bros, including the invitational of Super Smash Bros. The 3DS version has been delayed for debugging to October 7th.

Super Smash Bros, is the first topic of the Nintendo Digital Event. Nintendo explained that players will be able to use Mii avatars in the game, as well as host customization options. Nintendo also revealed Amiibos, which is their line of NFC figures that will be available for Super Smash Bros. Towards the end of the Digital event, they unveiled Palutena as a playable character.

Nintendo held the Super Smash Bros Invitational in the Nokia theater. There were 16 competitive players showing off their skills  and they also held short matches between members of the press and some celebrities, including Zelda Williams. Zero, using his Zero Suit Samus, came out on top as winner of the Invitational.

Masahiro Sakurai help a presser where he revealed additional details about Super Smash Bros development. He explains that all characters including Miis will have two variations of their four special moves, which gives them a overall of 12 options for special moves. These options will not be useable when playing in “with everyone” mode, however, it can be played in “with friends” mode. More possible customizations includes speed, equipment, etc. The customizations will be transferrable between Wii U and the 3DS versions. Sakurai insist fans wait until the Wii U version’s release to find out how it will play out.

Sakurai also dropped an interesting fact, explaining they decided on the roster early on. They worked on Greninja separately from Game Freak because Game Freak was making Pokémon X and Y. They picked Greninja when deciding on an extra slot for a Pokémon. Sakurai got the information about the new Pokémon from Game Freak so he can work on it separately. For players wondering about Greninja different moves between the two games, this is the reason.

Lastly, Sakurai revealed Pac-Man as a new character for Super Smash Bros. Pac-Man appearance is classic humanoid form with arms and legs. His moves has been expanded to reference Namco games, and he is able to switch to his classic pizza pie form.
