iPin: A Laser Pointer for Your iPhone

A laser pointer is always a nice gadget to have with you at all times. They come in handy for presentations and pointing out distant objects at night, not to mention the countless hours of entertainment that arise from watching your cat desperately chase the tiny dot around the house. However, like many great things in life, laser pointers never seem to be around when you need or want them the most. Well, you can solve this issue by just attaching one to the most essential device in your everyday life: your phone

Your iPhone already has a flashlight on it, so why not up the ante by adding a laser pointer to its many functions? The iPin is a small laser pointer with a wavelength of 635 nm that plugs into the headphone jack of your iPhone. It is easy to turn on and off when you need to take a call; all you have to do is twist it to the horizontal position, allowing the voice output to function.

The laser is controlled with a simple tap of the finger through the iPin app. The app also can synch with your computer and control your presentations with simple gestures. Swipe the center button left or right to navigate through slides. Swipe up and the display turns into a track pad, allowing you to control the cursor on your computer. The app also has a countdown timer so you can move through your presentation steadily. The iPin app can synch with computers running at least OS X 10.6 or Windows XP.

The iPin works for all iPhone models, along with the iPod Touch 4 and 5, but there are two sizes available. One is a standard size of 16.1 millimeters and the other is a bit longer to compensate for cases. There is also a model for Samsung Galaxy users as well.
