Butterbeer-harry-potter

The people of Hogsmeade love their beverages. According to Mental Floss, the butterbeer has especially become a hit in Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Most are non-alcoholic and usually consist of cream soda and sweetener. Check out this recipe provided by Working Class Foodies to find out how to make it.

What you’ll need:

¾ cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. water
5 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. lemon juice
½ teaspoon salt
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
¼ cup heavy cream
1 liter of seltzer water

Stir the brown sugar and water in a saucepan over medium high heat every few minutes until the brown sugar is dissolved. A helpful trick is to place your spatula into a cup of water to keep it from sticking to the mixture. When the mixture begins to boil, it’s advised to stick a thermometer into the saucepan and keep an eye out for 240°F. In a second bowl, mix together the 5 tbsp of butter, 1 tbsp of lemon juice, ½ salt, and 1 tbsp vanilla extract. When brown sugar and water gets to the desired temperature, remove from heat. Add in the second bowl into the brown sugar and water saucepan. Add in ¼ cup of heavy cream to the mixture. Using a mug, add 2-3 tbsp of the Butterbeer syrup to the bottom of it. Top the syrup with seltzer water and stir to combine mixture.
