New Xbox Release Date Inches Closer

Xbox 720 mock-upThe world is supposedly slated to end on the 21 December 2012 without us getting a glimpse at the new Xbox console. Oh Xbox; oh Xbox where could you be? This is song that has been sung by many gamers around the world including myself. It may come to the point where geeks around the world unite with each other and march on the steps of Microsoft offices demanding the release of the new Console.

I have good news my people, our voices are being heard, the new console is expected to have a 2013 release date. So far three names have been circulating the rumour mill for the new console; ‘Xbox 720’, ‘Xbox Infinity’ and the ‘Xbox Loop’.

According to inside sources the new console is expected to be smaller and quite Kinect-focused. A smaller console would be welcomed, which makes it easier to travel with. Can you imagine going on vacation without your Xbox? It’s like your worst nightmare coming to life. I remembered leaving my Xbox 360 at home when I went on vacation; I stayed up many a nights wondering if my console was safe, painful memories – never again.

Latest rumours suggest that the console will contain AMD’s 7000 series Southern Islands GPU. In real terms, the new console raw graphics processing power is expected to be six times that of the Xbox 360 and will yield 20-percent greater performance than Nintendo’s Wii U.

The Xbox 360 is still presently doing well in sales since its release in November 2005. The console is also expected to have a Blu-ray optical drive and DVR capabilities, which will allow users to record input from an external source. Microsoft is expected to reveal the new console at the E3 in June 2013 alongside the Kinect 2.0.

Let me see the hands that would be first in line for the new consoles?
