DISH Keeps Superbowl Ads Running

Does the big game seem deflated to you? Don’t want to be the 12th man this Sunday? Go ahead, don’t watch the Superbowl. Thanks to DISH, you won’t miss out on the best part of Superbowl Sunday: The ads.

DISH has announced that their AutoHop feature will be reversible specifically for this Sunday’s match up between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. This “Reverse AutoHop” can be enabled via the Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR, exclusively for DISH customers. It will allow users to play back their favorite ads from the most notorious advertising day in the world.

Bill Koenigsburg, president, CEO and founder of Horizon Media called the decision, “a win for advertisers and consumers”. Advertisers will gain even more exposure as their products and services reach larger audiences, while consumers get more of the entertainment that keeps them glued to the television during half time (sorry, Katy Perry).

The innovative decision doesn’t mean to steal the show from the NFL, but rather to allow fans to make Superbowl Sunday last longer. “This day is about two things: football and commercials”, said DISH senior vice president of product management, Vivek Khemka. In addition to the commercials, fans can of course watch the game again as well.

Regardless of who brings home the Lombardy trophy this Sunday, DISH customers are the real winners.
