SmallWorks Brick Case Review

Finding a phone case that protects your phone adequately and suits your taste can prove to be a daunting task. That being said, finding a phone case that protects, suits your taste and  entertains you, can be next to impossible. Thanks to SmallWorks and their incredibly fun Brick Case, the search just might be over!

Brick Case: The Perfect Balance of Functionality and Fun

The first thing I noticed while reviewing the Brick Case, was that it is as functional as it is entertaining. That says a lot for the case’s functionality because, boy, was it entertaining. Feeling the bumpy Lego-like surface brought me back to a simpler time. A time where there was nothing to do but eat grilled cheese sandwiches and build random structures with my Lego set all day long. Needless to say, I was ready to get started playing…I mean, reviewing.

My iPhone 5 slipped easily into the case with a reassuring click. Before I started with the exciting part, I noted that the hard shell case was very durable and created a secure barrier around the phone. I normally prefer a shock-absorbing silicone case or something of the Otter Box nature when trying to protect my phone from the hits it takes each day, but the Brick Case’s hard plastic shell is thicker than others of its kind and, as you can see in the picture above, it wraps around the top of the phone as well as the sides. I would not have a problem using the Brick Case as my primary phone protection, despite my aversion to hard plastic cases, because it really stands head and shoulders above the competition.

Now the Fun Part…

After gathering my phone, Brick Case, and Legos, I was ready for some brick-action. While building, I noticed that the case accommodates the Lego bricks exceptionally well, despite it not being a Lego product. There was no sticking or forcing as each brick fit perfectly on the case. In no time at all, I had an awesome Lego sculpture growing right out of my phone!

I know, I know, I’m a Lego master. But who wouldn’t be with a fun case like this? While I will concede to the idea that it may not be practical to have a semi-fragile Lego fighter jet mounted to your iPhone, the novelty factor definitely outweighs practicality. I can see the Brick Case being great for Lego enthusiasts or even the parents of easily-bored children while out to dinner. Even without the additional Legos, the Brick Case makes strong statement on its own. Nothing says, “I’m geeky and proud” like a SmallWorks Brick Case.
