Top Five Most Awaited Video Games of 2013

This year could prove one of the strongest years ever for console gaming as dozens of highly anticipated console and PC titles are due to hit the shelves.  Several developers will be releasing titles that are sure to fly off the shelves, while others may prove to be risky, which could sink their respective franchises.  Below are the top five most awaited video games of 2013.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V

Very little is known about the fifth installment in the classic virtual crime saga.  So far, only a single trailer has been released online, but fans of the franchise are anxious to play it as the game is easily Take-Two’s franchise title.  Fans can expect to be able to pull off more capers, steal more cars, and indulge in more gratuitous violence in this edition.

Tomb Raider

Square Enix is taking a huge risk with a reboot of one of the gaming’s institutions best games with Tomb Raider.  The new title of the same name features Laura Croft as a young girl prior to when she became the kick-ass heroin that she is now.  This game will be more of a back story for the epic character and fans are interested to see whether developers will bury the franchise with the title.

World Series of Poker: Full House Pro

Microsoft Studios will be releasing a new version of their Xbox LIVE arcade smash hit Full House Poker and taking it to new heights.  Unlike other Xbox video games involving poker, this game will be one of the only partnered with the World Series of Poker.  Due out in the spring, players can compete in career mode or against live players at any time and the game comes complete with voice-overs from Lon McEachern and Norman Chad of ESPN’s WSOP broadcasts.

God of War: Ascension

Playstation’s franchise game is turning out a prequel of its own this year in God of War: Ascension.  The original trilogy of games featured Kratos defeating both the Greek Gods and their Titan forefathers.  This new title will allow fans to find out Kratos’ origins and what turned him into the war machine he is known to be.

The Last of Us

Yes, we have yet another zombie game coming out.  This title is a bit different than many of the other zombie titles.  The story is pretty much standard with you being a lone survivor of a plague that has turned most of the population into zombies.  You have a 14-year-old companion and your goal is to survive.  The difference in this and most stories is that your ammunition and weapons are limited and you must use stealth as well as your creativity to defeat the enemy.  Essentially, imagine MacGyver fighting zombies.
