Dead Trigger Review

Let’s play Dead Trigger, a free app for the iPad/iPhone that almost resembles the sophistication you might find with the Xbox 360 or even a PC game. Zombies all around for some serious gore, accompanied with some of the most impressive graphics ever seen in a mobile application.

Dead Trigger for iPad

Really cool graphics and visuals

Zombie Slaughter in Dead Trigger

But, even though the stunning visual effects might reel you in, the game itself quickly becomes boring with the same old never ending drama you normally find with in-app purchases. The game has no end in site, and unless you’re up for the never-ending fight that usually comes with the zombie apocalypse or enjoy having your hard earned cash quickly disappear to get somewhat ahead, you’ll quickly download it then forget it.

One thing definitely worth mentioning is Dead Trigger gives you a small look into the future of mobile applications and just how far we can push the limits of special effects and some cool graphics in mobile gaming.

Geek Magazine App Review

The usual in-app purchases including a casino.

All in all, Mad Finger did manage to pull off some decent leaps with Unity engine, and Dead Trigger comes across more like a ‘Demo’ or ‘Beta Test’ then anything else. Just check out the weaponry arsenal you have access to through in-app purchases to really get a feel of what might be in store for us with mobile gaming.

Even if your not a fan of Zombies or in-purchase gaming, the visual effects, a really cool dripping water sequence that makes the Retina display on the iPad well worth the cash; and the cool collection of weaponry you can nab might entertain you for a week or two.

The weapons choices were cool, but you have to purchase them

Go On Try it

Honestly, if you want to really show off what your iPhone 5 or iPad 3 can do, then by all means download the game. But, if you want an action packed, entertaining blood fest that sees you as the ultimate hero at the end of the day, avoid Dead Trigger and just purchase a cool Zombie App outright.

Download it now at the iTunes Store

Although I haven't played the finished version, I did follow the game's development online. Even then, the level's felt linear and very, very repetitive. It's a pity, if this game had been seriously made (story, game play, guns choice) and charged an upfront fee of like $5, it would have been a strong pillar in the case of iOS games rivaling big time console games. By the way, how many megabytes is the game?

Also, the zombies in this game really like ketchup don't they?
