Sony Finally, Finally Unveils the White PS3 For North America

sonyFans of the white PS3 rejoice! For your heartfelt prayers and E-mails have been heard by Sony. The white Super Slim PS3 will go on sale January 27, 2013, across all major retail outlet stores in Canada and The United States (of America), for the price of $299.9. It’s currently available for pre-order at various online retailers, including Playstation US

What’s The Big Deal About This New Steal?

Well, Sony call it the “value” bundle, and unlike previous bundles that came with a physical hardcopy of a game, this one just has a 1 year pre-bundled PS+ Store membership.

The actual package just contains the white, tray top loading PS3, a single matching controller, the membership card and the other usual junk such as leaflets and cables (10 years and Sony still refuses to bundle an HDMI cable).

The white PS3 bundle is perfect for the owner of Vita, as the PS+ Store bundle also includes access to six Vita games; among them Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush and Wipeout 2048. The store membership also makes available 12 Playstation 3 games, of which LittleBigPlanet 2, inFAMOUS 2, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, are currently lined up. Sony swears solemnly that the library will be updated constantly.

The “value” bundle comes sporting Sony’s biggest HDD, the 500 GB version, and let’s not forget that PS3 hard drives can be easily swapped out for larger, non proprietary HDDs.

Small heads up for people who already have a PS+ membership, buying the white bundle will increase whatever time you already have left on you current membership, (so, basically, you get an extra year free) but Sony will demand that a credit card be used for security reasons.

Although it’s really  nice that the white Super Slim PS3 has finally arrived in North America, let’s not forget that our European and  Japanese cousins have access to white, black red and blue PS3s.

So, are you excited or completely apathetic to the new white PS3 bundle? Do you think the bundled in PS+ Store membership along with the Vita goodies is a good deal? Or should there be a physical game included as well? Express you answers down below in the comments section!
