Update on iPhone 5 iOS 6 Jailbreak

iPhone 5 jailbreak has been like a mystery wrapped in an enigma so far. The rumors of an imminent jailbreak picked up in Q4 of 2012 but quieted down after nothing authentic had transpired by the end of 2012. iOS 6 has been particularly hard to crack so far. With the release of iOS 6.0.2 and 6.1, the chances for a jailbreak now seem more remote than ever. Developers are trying to convince Apple to make its iOS 6 open source. and are advising users not to upgrade to iOS 6.1 if they want to enjoy the jailbreak experience.

Jailbreaking your iPhone turns it into a whole new, much more flexible device. You can use many new apps, swipe the SB Setting open, display a Notification Center on lock screen and do all kinds of customizations. A stock device can feel stifling if you are used to a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Fortunately, there’s hope for iPhone 5 and other iOS 6 users. A renowned hacker Planetbeing has announced that he does have a jailbreak for iOS 6. “The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now,” posted Planetbeing on his Reditt account a few days ago. He said he was not releasing the jailbreak because iOS 6.1 was coming very soon and he didn’t want Apple to break his iOS 6 jailbreak.

There are some fly by night operators selling phony software as iOS 6 jailbreak and probably making a quick buck. Running an uncertified jailbreak can dupe you out of some cash and damage your Apple device. Always rely on reputable sites and reviews before jailbreaking your iPhone 5. Stay tuned for the latest on iOS 6 jailbreak. It will be here, eventually.
