The levels of anticipation are already good and high thanks in part to a couple of cool trailers and a 9 minute preview for Star Trek Into Darkness. JJ Abrams’ first instalment of the new Star Trek (bigger and bolder) franchise was an incredible addition to the summer blockbusters of 2009. But, Abrams’ made it no secret he wanted to do so much more with the story lines. We have a feeling many more areas will be artistically explored with the new instalment set for May 2013.
In a recent interview with Yahoo, Star Trek Into Darkness villain, Benedict Cumberbatch hinted a bit more about his character “John Harrison”:
“He is fed into the crew of the Enterprise and creates a lot of shadow play between Kirk and Spock”, he told Yahoo!. “He’s an awesome single-handed weapon of mass destruction but also a master mind-player and manipulator who plays with their roles and loyalties and understand of what’s right and wrong. As far as his own purpose, beyond the terrorist means, he has a noble cause, which will hopefully resonate with the audience.”

He also went on to add that “all the crew understand each other, but at the same time you have to up the stakes with their peril, which means bringing in a stronger antagonist. It’s one of the hugest compliments [JJ Abrams] wanting to work with me, knowing how big this villain is.”
For fans the excitement and anticipation is mounting, the allure for the film has clearly begun. Questions need answering; like how does this villain of “mass destruction” maintain a noble cause? It’s all very mysterious…and we like it.
