By the looks of things, 2013 is shaping up to be one heck of a year for movies. Recent trailers, featuring “Man of Steel”, Star Trek into Darkness”, and “Pacific Rim”, has geeks everywhere bustlingly with excitement.
Epic, masterpiece and blockbuster are few of the words that come to mind. But, there are still even more incredible movies to look forward to. Check out the list below and start marking your new calendar.
Jack the Giant Slayer

The Story: When a young farmhand accidentally opens a gateway between our world and a world with a fearsome race of giants, all hell breaks loose. A centuries old war is reignited when the giants try to reclaim the land that was once theirs. Jack, who is played by Nicolas Hoult, faces the battle of his life to try and stop them.

300: Rise of an Empire

Most of us will remember the breathtaking visual style of Frank Miller’s “300”; this new chapter of the epic and brilliant saga promises to be better. We’ll be the judge of that.
The Story: Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel “Xerxes”, 300: Rise of an Empire returns to a new battlefield, which takes place on the sea. A Greek general, Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge to change the course of the war. The general is pitted against a massive invading Persian army, let by mortal-turned-God, Xerxes and Artemesia. The movie stars Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro and Eva Green.
Seventh Son

The Story: Jeff Bridges is Master Gregory, a Knight who has imprisoned a powerful witch, played by Julianne Moore. After centuries of imprisonment, the witch escapes and seeks revenge on Gregory. Now, he has only until the next full moon to do what usually takes years; train his new apprentice.
The Conjuring

This new horror flick focuses around the Warrens; their name is synonymous with the Amityville Horror. Ed Warren, a demonologist and his wife Lorraine a clairvoyant, are well known figures in the paranormal world. You also might have seen them in several episodes of “A Haunting” on the Discovery Channel. Ed Warren has since passed away.
The Story: The story takes place before the real life events of Amityville in the 70’s. This supernatural thriller tells the true story of Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga; who were called to Harrisville to help a family being terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. This event was noted as the most “terrifying case” of their lives.
Gravity

The Story: Sandra Bullock stars as Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission. With her is astronaut Matt Kowalsky, played by George Clooney; and what is supposed to be a routine space walk quickly turns to disaster when their shuttle is destroyed. Both are left floating in the darkness of space, drifting farther and farther away from home.
World War Z
