Oh Japan…is there anything you won’t do?
If you have ever visited Japan, odds are you’ve met an “advanced toilet” and shared a special moment. Japan is known for many innovative ideas including robotics, gadgets and automotive. But, they are also well known for sometimes very strange and unusual inventions, like their toilets.
When it comes to the toilet industry (Just a stab in the dark that there is actually a toilet industry), Japan has a funny way of “Pimping” out the throne. We have seen such innovations like heated seats, sound effects (Oh dear), and power lids. But one manufacturer, named Lilix is taking the toilet up a notch. They have just launched three new toilet models that can be controlled using an Android Smartphone – yes, there’s an app for that, just keep reading.

Those who feel the need to break-away from respectable etiquette, by bringing their phone to the bathroom with them, may now rejoice. You not only get to talk while attending the throne, you can also control said throne.
Next spring, Lilix will be launching Bluetooth equipped Satis toilets. With the MY Satis app for Android, users will be able to control all the features their new toilet has to offer. If you like listening to music while on your toilet, you can play your favorites through wireless on your phone, because the toilet comes with speakers. The app can also control when the toilet flushes, and can even raise and lower the lid, in case of embarrassing emergencies.
But, by far the best part of the app is a feature called “toilet diary”; this nifty little toilet feature allows you to track how often you use the toilet, what events may have occurred, and it even helps predict your water bill for the month. Look at it from this perspective: smartphones can control many things in our lives, like cars or TVs – the toilet was only a matter of time.
Have a look at the video below, showing off the new features for the Satis toilet.
