Oprah’s Twitter Status
The shock value has completely dwindled when it comes to celebrity blunders, mishaps and arrests. There was a time when Lindsey Lohan was getting arrested every other day. You can’t help but a feel a little bad when a public figure really screws up – well, sometimes anyway.
But, when a huge influential public figure makes a techno-faux-pas, geeks across North America converge to poke fun. Honestly, how often does our time come around to point and laugh at the cool kids?
Here are the facts:
Oprah Winfrey loves Microsoft’s new Surface – so much so, she bought 12 of them for Christmas to give away to loved ones. In usual Oprah fashion – a very generous billionaire indeed. Oprah compared the Surface to a Mercedes, and posted to Twitter for the world to see. We are almost certain that Microsoft is dancing with glee this morning; or are they?
So what’s all the fuss about?
You see, Oprah expressed her love for Microsoft’s Surface on Twitter via an iPad. Yes, she used her iPad to tell the world she’s in love with the Surface. TechCrunch was the first to notice this little blunder and they were quick to point out that only a couple of years ago, Oprah announced her love for the iPad.
That’s the funny thing about gadgets; monogamy is just a pipe-dream. We can’t possibly commit to just one, we have to play the field and have fun before we get to old to comprehend new technology.
So, if Oprah wants to leave the iPad behind, I say let her. And, if she wants to ‘tap it’ one last time to express her love for something else, well, that’s her business – who are we to judge?
