Star Trek into Darkness: Entertainment News

Screen Shot - Star Trek

Fans rejoice, for the time is nearly here.

Lot’s going on in Star Trek movie land, and the marketing and promotions are swinging into full gear. Star Trek Into Darkness is coming to IMAX theatres in December; and no doubt the date has been engraved into skin, across the Geeks land of old. Don’t get too excited, it’s not the full movie just yet, but the trailer of all trailers.

News that the first nine minutes of J. J. Abram’s Star Trek Into Darkness would screen exclusively with IMAX 3D prints of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14th, was exciting news for trekkies, hoping to get a glimpse of the mysterious villain opposing Kirk and the Enterprise crew. But, not to burst any bubbles, rumors around the blog-o-sphere are predicting we won’t get to see the villain. No big deal, because a whole nine minutes is enough to old us over.

And to curb your frustrations about only getting a chance to glimpse the highly anticipated trailer at an IMAX theatre; Paramount will allow everyone to get a look on December 14th with the release of your basic run of the mill trailer. The IMAX version will show fans the first nine minutes of the film (prologue); so if you have an IMAX in your city, great – if you don’t, drive to one.

The movie is set to be released on May 17

The plotline for Star Trek Into Darkness remains a mystery. However, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, and Bruce Greenwood will all be reprising the roles in the upcoming film. Add to the list a few newcomers – Alice Eve and Benedict Cumberbatch; which is supposed to be the ‘big villian’, but his identity has not been revealed.

Considering most are thinking a villain from characters past, we can probably take a few guesses.

Who do you think the villain will be?
